Centennial Golf Course has been serving Treasure Valley golfers for over 30 years.  In the mid 1980's a group of passionate community leaders and citizens led a grassroots campaign to fund and build Nampa's first golf course.  Completed in 1987 Centennial Golf Course quickly became and remains a Valley favorite.  Known for its large contoured fairways and putting surfaces, Centennial was designed to accommodate a broad range of golf abilities.  Centennial also offers some of the most affordable golf rates in the Valley!!!

Absent: Neal Murphy

Meeting called to order at 9:04 AM by Commission Chairman Todd Durbin.

Minutes: A motion was made by Jim Kile, seconded by June York and approved by all the members present to accept the minutes of 3/18/25.

Financial Reports: Hadley Haskell reported for Centennial that March revenue was much improved from February due to better weather, and well-up from the same period last year. Scott Nicholes reported the same for Ridgecrest, with revenue up $74K from last year. April is also going well so far, and the new cart fleet is working out very well. Having enough player assistants and starters on both the Executive Nine and the Championship course is also working well. Jennifer Ayala Vanderpool reported a large capital expense for Ridgecrest for the new water well. There will probably be one more charge for the well next month. There were also debt service payments for the purchase of the golf course land. Other than that, expenses were as normal for this time of year for both courses. A motion was made by Steve Wilson, seconded by June York and approved by all the members present to accept the financial reports.

Operations Course/Conditions Reports: Brandon Crim reported for Centennial that they rented a bulldozer to smooth out the mounds on #8 and the areas between 10, 11 and 18. They have been fixing numerous irrigation issues, both electrical and others. They are getting ready to fertilize tees and greens, as well as getting ready for the Mayor’s Tournament. They are waiting for a city inspection so the water tower contractor can come back and fix the cart path on #4. They are getting close on the design for the new irrigation system. Todd Durbin reported that the Men’s One-Day Tournament went well, and the course was in very good condition. Josh Davidson reported for Ridgecrest that the pump for the water well has been installed. We’re just waiting for the electrical box and electrical connection for completion. He has hired more seasonal staff, and they are getting into their regular mowing schedule. They are continuing to add sand to bunkers where it is needed. They are on a regular spray schedule for greens and fertilized tees last week. They sprayed for broadleaf weeds last week and are working on irrigation issues (leaks, power issues, boxes.) Kody Busmann has been hired as the new maintenance technician. Bob Nash reported for Ridgecrest that greens are running fast and true with numerous compliments for golfers. Sand traps look good, but balls are burying deeper in the new sand. This should straighten out as the sand compacts. Fairways and fringe are growing more consistent, and rough is starting to thicken up. Bob also reported that feedback from the Ladies Travel League, who played on 4/14 with 56 players, was very positive on the condition of the course. Ponds are starting to fill and the Executive Nine is getting more consistent and golfers are starting to adapt to the new guidelines. Bar and food services are open in the clubhouse. Bob wanted to remind players that the Ridgecrest app includes accurate distances to the flags on the driving range, regardless of tee placement. Bob also wanted to congratulate Josh Davidson for retaining so many of last year’s temporary staff who are coming back to work this year.

Public Relations Reports: Jim Kile reported for Centennial that The Senior Men’s Assoc., has 150 active members, but the course can only accommodate 128 at each event. The Tuesday/Thursday Ladies League only has 12 members but that is expected to increase.  The CMGA Opener was held on 3/16 with 100 players. The Men’s Individual was held on 3/29 with 80 players. The CLGA opener was held on 4/12 with 28 players. June York reported for Ridgecrest that a Ladies Sip N’ Chip Clinic was held on 3/21 with 14 ladies. A Mizuno Demo Day was held on 4/4. The Idaho Junior Tour played on the Executive Nine on 4/11. US Kids also played on the Executive Nine on 4/13. The Ladies Travel League played on 4/14.

Golf Manager Report: Revenue is doing well. We’ve already made up round losses from early in the year. The water well at Ridgecrest is nearly done, and we have advised that state that we have disconnected from their well. Tony showed the towel that will be a tee prize for the Mayor’s Tournament, along with a sleeve of logo balls. The tournament is full and will have a shotgun start at 9:00 AM on 5/2 at Centennial. He will send out a detailed schedule later today. The course apps have had over 1800 downloads. Passes are just about sold out at both courses. Tony and Brandon Crim have almost finished approving the design for the Centennial irrigation system rebuild and he’s hoping it can go out to bid in May or June. A motion was made by June York, seconded by Fred Sutton and passed by all the members present to accept the Operations/Course Conditions, Public Relations and Golf Manager reports.
